Major Works Project Completed

I’m happy to say that major works project managed by AFM to rectify another Psaros defect legacy has been completed!
A large defective tiled waterproofed area, covering 600m2 of leisure areas, courtyards, pool shell, and pool deck, costing the owners about $600,000. This project also saw the replacement of drains, skimmer boxes, pool liner and glass balustrading.
The new Ardex WPM1000 sheet membrane system, specified by an independent consultant and Ardex, carries a 20-year warranty and goes above and beyond the Australian standard using best practice, giving the owners peace of mind. The adjacent walls were also protected from water bypassing the waterproof membrane by using a consultant specified elastomeric coating system, that carries a ten year warranty.
The Psaros waterproofing defect has led to concrete cancer below and will be the next project for the owners to rectify.
WA Apartment Advocacy’s Enduring Award

AFM has proudly sponsored the WA Apartment Advocacy’s Enduring Award since 2021. This Award recognises enduring apartment projects (post ten years in age) that still remain relevant today and continue to influence ongoing architectural design. It’s wonderful to see owners improving and maintaining their buildings in good condition. I’m looking forward to presenting the Award again this year!

It was exciting to be able to present an award that is close to my heart.
Well built and well maintained apartment buildings are the key to preserving asset value for all owners in the community. A properly maintained property will also save owners money in the long run. The award I gave out on the night was the Enduring Award for buildings over 10 years old. Great credit to the Council of Owners of Panorama for maintaining its value for over 20 years. Good accomplishment to the designers Hassel and builders Mirvac Fini for creating an Enduring building. Great event created by Sam Reece from the WA Apartment Advocacy, a powerful voice for the owners of apartments all around Australia.
